India, 12th June, 2025: After an inspiring debut season that captured the hearts of cricket lovers across Bengal, The Lux Shyam Kolkata Tigers are all set to return with renewed zeal and fierce ambition in the second edition of the Bengal Pro T20 League, which kicked off yesterday at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The Lux Shyam Kolkata Tigers proudly co-owned by Shyam Steel Group and Lux Cozi, the franchise continues to represent the cricketing spirit of Kolkata and Hooghly, standing as a beacon of opportunity, excellence, and unity in Bengal cricket.
Building on the momentum of last year, The Lux Shyam Kolkata Tigers have retained a strong core of emerging and experienced players, while welcoming new talent into both their Men’s and Women’s squads. Once again, Abishek Porel, dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman, will lead the Men’s team, while the accomplished Mita Paul, right-handed all-rounder, continues as the captain of the Women’s side. Both skippers will be guided by a refined coaching setup featuring Shib Sankar Paul (Head Coach, Men’s) and Charanjit Singh Nair (Head Coach, Women’s), alongside their respective assistant coaches, Kanchan Maity and Trisha Bera.
The Matches of Bengal Pro T20 League 2025 will again be played at the iconic Eden Gardens and the Jadavpur University Salt Lake Campus Grounds, both venues certified by the BCCI. Live broadcasts and digital streaming will be available on Star Sports 3 and Fancode, ensuring the Tigers reach audiences across the state and beyond.
On this occasion, Mr. Saket Todi, Director of Lux Cozi, said, “Last year, our women’s team made history by winning the inaugural Bengal Pro T20 League. This season, we aim to deepen our engagement with fans and provide an even bigger platform for young boys and girls to display their cricketing prowess. With Lux Shyam Kolkata Tigers, we’re building a legacy of excellence, inclusiveness, and opportunity. The passion of Bengal deserves a team that reflects its pride and potential.”
Speaking to the media, Mr. Lalit Beriwala, Director of Shyam Steel, said, “Cricket is more than a sport – it’s a platform for dreams. With the Lux Shyam Kolkata Tigers, we’re championing a future where every boy and girl sees themselves on the big stage. Our vision remains rooted in community development through sports. As the franchise continues to grow stronger, its commitment remains unwavering: to foster sportsmanship, empower youth, and promote inclusive cricket across Bengal – with the same strength as Shyam Steel and the same comfort as Lux Cozi.
